Anstey Junior School has an active Parent Teacher Association which holds fundraising events throughout the year to raise money towards school equipment and activities. The events are also enjoyable for the pupils, so there is always a good turn-out for the discos, tea afternoons, fairs and cake bakes.
PTA meetings are held at various times, usually, but not always, in the evenings to make it easier for working parents to attend. We are always happy to welcome new members and there is no pressure to volunteer for any task. If you would like to join the PTA or just help out at an event, please speak to the school office.
Dates of upcoming PTA events:
The PTA held their AGM during the Autumn term, one of the matters discussed was how much money had been raised during the academic year 2016 – 2017 and how this money had been spent. The financial report detailed the wide range of purchases that the PTA have contributed towards, this included: Year 6 leavers’ gifts, new blinds in the school hall, trip contributions of £3 per child, new library furniture, Christmas crackers and a visiting pantomime performance. This is a great achievement!
This year we have also started well, already raising money through the disco, Christmas Fayre and spring cake sale. The PTA have agreed to fund new water fountains and staging for school performances and will continue to raise funds that will benefit the children throughout the year.
I would like to say a personal thank you to all the dedicated parents and members of staff who continue to work hard for the school in order to benefit the children. Without your efforts many enjoyable events could not take place but more importantly so many beneficial experiences and changes would not happen.
The next PTA meeting (please check for updates) in the Anstey Room. All are welcome so please come along with your ideas and thoughts. If you are unable to attend but would like to be involved please speak to Miss McGrath or Anna Robinson who will happily update you with minutes from the meeting.
